I grew up in a middle class family, my father was a dairyman and my mother was an accountant for a wholesale grocery warehouse, I was average in high school. I attended college briefly, I worked a little country store close to my home, then attended trade school and got a real estate license.

I really did not know whether I was cut out to be a real estate agent or not… I did not know everything there was to know about real estate. I figured out shortly that I really didn’t have to be an expert on real estate, all I needed to do is get people infront of other real estate experts until I became an expert. And, I know that I could do that.

The reason I was able to “fire my boss” so soon, was I found myself in an environment that started changing my belief level. I started associating myself with people that were successful entrepreneurs and reading lots of inspiration and self-development books.

After reading my daily dose of inspiration quotes today… today it was by Napoleon Hill.  I began to think about when my children were younger and they were always interrupting me to go see what they did or go to the park…. and most usually if I was busy, my answer was “In Just a Minute!”

 

In just a minute  lives can be changed. The person who runs the red light to save time can cause a serious accident and change lives forever.

 

The angry words shouted in an argument can end a friendship. Failing to say “thank you”  for a gift can create animosity.

 

Governments have been toppled and careers ended, not because of policies, but because of lies and untruths that were spoken in a minute.

 

We can have a great deal of influence over others by our own words and actions that just take a minute.

 

A simple word of appreciation takes seconds, but can be the motivator that causes someone to succeed.

 

The minute it takes to call a friend to ask how things are going can give needed encouragement when they thought no one cared.

 

Helping a child left behind may not seem important on the surface, but they will remember the kindness for a lifetime.

 

We can all remember in our own lives those who took the time to help us. We may not remember their names but we remember the impact they had on us.

 

In the course of our lives we may not become famous or receive public accolades, but we will be remembered by our actions that took just a minute.

 

An Action item for you today: “Just take a minute and thank someone in your life, whether it’s your child for cleaning their room, or your in-laws for sending you a birthday card or your neighbor for bring you some fresh vegetables or your friend for giving you a good recommendation”.

 

Just taking A Minute will go a long way and it will put a smile on someone’s face and yours too!

When opportunity knocks, will you recognize it?  Opportunity comes in many forms.  Many times we see opportunity in our failures and our stumbles in life.  It is what we learn from our failures and stumbles that count.  Sometimes we create opportunites after a failure because we do not want that to happen to us again.  We stumble or fail at something and then we realize that we need to take steps to prevent that from happening again so we begin to search for a cure, or a way to change. 

There are many opportunities that we encounter on a daily basis.  I am considering returning to school to pursue a masters degree.  I know that that opportunity is there but will that guarantee me success?  That depends.  I do not need my masters degree to be successful in my current job as they are unrelated skills but if I take advantage of the opportunity now it may well pay off in the future should I decide to change careers or pursue a second career after retirement from my current position. 

I believe that there is opportunity in almost everything.  We've all heard tales about the little worker bee that advanced to become the boss or the owner of a company or business.  If you are currently employed, in most cases, I believe that advancement is possible, there is probably that opportunity if you are willing to make the sacrifices necessary to make it happen.  Those sacrifices may include changing your shift schedule, furthering your education or just mastering your current job so that you are the expert in all facets of that job.  Opportunity is almost always present. 

If you are looking for a business opportunity to test your skills and knowledge but yet reap the rewards from those challenges, I am interested in giving you an opportunity that can change everything.  I need individuals that are willing to learn, work and take massive amounts of action!!!  If you believe in opportunity, this is your opportunity to change your lifestyle!!!

Have you ever noticed how the word "smile" assumes the position of a smile on your face right after it has been pronounced? The same is true with a grin or a grouch. Much of the words in the English language or perhaps in other languages of the world assume the facial expressions of the person pronouncing them. Perhaps this is how words came into existence. 

What kind of difference can a smile make? In spite of its simplicity and spontaneity, a smile can make all the difference in the world. It creates an atmosphere of friendliness and peace.

Admittedly, a frown can likewise create an atmosphere. The question now is this: "Which is more preferable?" An atmosphere of dissent brought about by frowning can bring conflict and unfriendliness, while a smile can create unity and camaraderie.

A smile is contagious and profitable. When you project a smile, the other person can't help but smile back at you. Throw a smile to a baby, and there's a big chance the baby will smile back at you.

Because of your smile, a baby starts to be playful with you even if you are a stranger to him. When a baby starts to be playful, you just can't resist playing with him. Then he begins to laugh and giggle. You make the baby happy; you make yourself happy too. And to think all this started with a simple smile. A smile can erase or diminish pain, especially emotional and psychological pain. 

If you want to make a good impression, smiling is your best option. You can sport all the expensive material on your body you want. You may even be rich and famous and more profitable. But if you sport a sour face, you'll get the same treatment in return, as sour as vinegar. Those in public offices should take this very seriously if they want to relate well with their clients.

A smile is worth more than words. A smile is a universal language expressed in the form of a gesture that greets and welcomes other people. When someone smiles at you, especially at a time you least expect it, you feel happier and you return the favor. This is best expressed during vacation periods.

Of course, vacations are a time and season of smiles. But it's also a time you can get too busy attending parties and shopping, so much so that you get so tired you feel you can't smile anymore. However, when you come across somebody who smiles at you despite your weariness, you still can't help but smile back.

Try walking into a shop where a frown from the owner awaits you. Before you know it, you are heading back to the door where you came from. It's as if your legs have a mind of their own. This is the reason why it's important that sales people (if you are in the sales business) wear smiles on their faces all the time. This is the best way to attract more customers.

A smile has no monetary value yet it's priceless. No amount of money can buy you one. It's given away for free. You neither have to beg, steal, or borrow it. A smile comes naturally from the heart, resulting in harmony at home and prosperious for business. A smile binds and maintains friendship. Without smiles, any friendship is unimaginable.

"But how can you smile when you are overwhelmed with problems of the heart, health, finances, and peace of mind?" Yes, it's difficult; but does sulking help? Will a frown take away the pain and rid the problems that keep pushing you down with more problems, illness, poverty, and a confused mind? The answer is obvious. Without a shadow of a doubt, a smile will clear the clouds and bring a little sunshine to your life.

A smile is like a jewel worn on the face. It is the gateway to your personality. Wear a smile every minute and hour of the day, and you won't need anything else.

So keep on smiling and make someone happy!

Nickel and Dimed – a blog by “g”.  The other half of D & G. 

 

Chances are you’ve heard this phrase before:  Nickel and Dimed.  Or maybe you at one time or another have been “nickel and dimed to death”.  Of course you haven’t literally been nickel and dimed to death but at the end of the day or pay period sometimes it sure feels like it doesn’t it? 

 

Where does our money go?  I’ve read many times that the best way to lose weight and keep it off is to keep an online food journal so you are accountable for every last little morsel that you stuff in your mouth.  Likewise with your money…keep a journal and enter every nickel and dime that you spend.  You would probably be surprised at how much needless spending you actually do.  Mindless eating and mindless spending go hand in hand.  We have become a society of convenience and speed.  We don’t spend as much time cooking meals that are actually better for us than eating out and actually more affordable as well.  (That would be a great start to losing weight and having more money at the end of the day so this is bonus advice!)

 

Now I know you have to eat to live so I really cannot do much about that except to suggest that you eat a little less and move a little more, but what if you didn’t have to worry about being nickeled and dimed?  What if I handed you the keys you a home-based business opportunity that would ensure that you wouldn’t have to worry about nickels and dimes anymore?  Instead you could be banking cold hard cash?  Perhaps at the end of the day or the end of your pay period you would still have money to spare and even some to put in savings or to spend on whatever it is that your heart desires.  Sound intriguing?

There were few things that marked my boyhood as strongly as westerns. Every Sunday, I arranged my afternoon around "The Lone Ranger," "The Rifle Man" and "Bonanza." Then, if I was lucky, I would catch a glimpse of what I considered to be the definition of the word "man" – John Wayne – in a late-night western.

 

 

My grandmother had a painting of him in her living room, and in my blue-collar family he was a hero. Maybe it was because the characters he portrayed exhibited the qualities that my family lived—blue-collar, hard-working and honest. I am proud to say that I have a doctorate in John Wayne.

 

In 1972, Wayne played a character in which he mentored young school boys on a cattle drive in the film "Cowboys." Because of his leadership and example, these boys became men before the end of the cattle drive. They would avenge "The Duke's" death after he was gunned down in cold blood. This was my favorite John Wayne movie, perhaps because I also was a young boy and I subconsciously knew that I was being mentored through a television screen by the rugged cowboy. Today, I believe I am a better businessman because of it.

 

 

 

If "The Duke" were a businessman in 2009, I assure you that he would:

- First and foremost, be honest. This cowboy would never lie to make a sale and neither should you. His resume wouldn't exaggerate and you could rely on his word.

 

- Be a hard worker. John Wayne would be the first cowboy on his horse preparing for the cattle drive, and he would be the first in your office, spending his time working to the point of exhaustion.

 

- Defend the weak. Whether in "Stagecoach," "True Grit," "Cowboys" or another film, Wayne never took advantage of the weak. Instead, he protected those who couldn't protect themselves.

 

If he was in your office when a salesperson or professional was struggling, there is no doubt in my mind that he would ride alongside them and offer assistance to make the team better.

 

- Feo, Fuerte y Formal.  These were the words that Wayne wanted on his tombstone. They translate to: "He was ugly, strong and had dignity." He was a physically strong man at 6'4''. Yet, it was his strength of character that was referred to here. In your business, you would be a magnificent success if others say you have strength of character. This means not giving in when things look bleak. "The Duke" wouldn't.

 

 

 

- Have dignity. This, again, comes from his self description. Dignity means relying on yourself for your success and abandoning the victim mentality. Wayne would not be a victim if he worked in your office. He would not blame his lack of success on the economy, co-workers or his boss. Instead, with dignity he would take his future into his own hands and rely on no one but himself for his success.

 

John Wayne was the definition of the word "man" and would be the definition of the word "businessman" if he worked in your office in 2009. As a young boy, I watched John Wayne ride off into the sunset on June 11th, 1979. Though I was confident one day that I would be a cowboy, I ended up a businessman. Today, I am a better businessman because of John Wayne´s lessons.

 

Thanks to John Wayne for the life lessons on hard work, honesty, dignity, strength and compassion. With a tip of my hat, I give him a hardy, "Thanks partner."

Our minds are all we've got. They are the source of who we, both personally and professionally, are. They determine our success or failure. They are our strength and our weakness.

With the quality of our entire lives resting on our minds, it's unbelievable that we choose to fill them with so much garbage. The amount of negativity from television, newspapers, tabloids and other media that bombards us on a daily basis is amazing. We would never think to fill our bodies with only junk food, right? Heck no. We know that if we ate nothing but French fries and ice cream we would experience negative consequences like skin blemishes, weight gain and rotting teeth.

But with mental junk food we don't see the physical consequences right away. When our minds are constantly filled with negativity and bad news, our minds begin to decay. That's why we need to develop a strong, Herculean-esque mind.

Developing your mental muscles will give you the power to accomplish anything you want in life. Sure, it takes some discipline on your part, but look at the world's greatest bodybuilders. They don't show up at the gym every once in a while. They create a workout schedule and they are at the gym every day, no matter what.

Hire yourself as your “mental manager.’ Figure out how much you're going to pay yourself and make up a job list. Here are six jobs to assign to yourself to create a stronger mind.

  1. Read Right
    How much good news do you see in the newspapers? Editors usually say, “If it bleeds, it leads.’ Not much chance of positivity there.  So, read something else. Read books – good books. Books that motivate you. Books that inspire you. Look up some of the great inspirational authors on amazon.com or in your local bookstore. Read them every morning and/or every night, before you go to sleep.

  2. Share Your Mind
    Find someone, or a group of someone's, who have the same desire to share positivity. This is called masterminding. Great successes are created when great minds come together and think about the same things.

  3. Find A Mentor
    My mentor was Buckminster Fuller and I learned more from that man about life than I ever hoped to. Who are the people you admire most, whether you know them or not? Figure out whom you'd like to emulate and study them. If they offer seminars, attend them. If they've written books, read them. Just a few I'd recommend are: Tony Robbins, Dr. Wayne Dyer and Zig Ziglar.

  4. Listen to Motivational/Inspirational CDs and Tapes
    This is one of the most important habits you can create for yourself. Find inspirational audio messages and listen to them over and over. Earl Nightingale, one of the most brilliant thinkers of our time, had this to say on the subject: “Tape listening is the most important advance in technology since the invention of the printing press.’ With audio tapes and CDs, speakers can reach 10 times as many people as the printed word ever could.

  5. Sign Up and Attend Seminars

  6. Turn Off the Television

Hi, this is G…the other half of D & G! 

 

How different do you think your life would be if you led it with purpose rather than letting it just happen to you?  I used to think that no matter how much time I had "on the job" I still couldn't possibly be an authority on anything I was doing.  I felt like I was going through my days just faking it.  One day I had this conversation with my boss and he told me that I was "consciously incompetent".  To this day I'm not entirely sure what he meant but I do know that I didn't like it.  And I don't think it was meant to be a negative, just an awareness issue more than anything.  The more I think about it perhaps what he meant was that I am aware of my shortcomings and I don’t bury my head in the sand…I’m willing to admit my faults and do something about them.  I've decided no matter what he actually meant, I don't want to live my life by accident.  I want and desire purpose.  In everything I do.  And now that I am a single mom, that also includes purpose driven wealth.  How much more satisfying will it be to rake in the money because that is the way I intended it to happen?  Purpose driven life...purpose driven wealth.  I do not want to leave my financial status to chance anymore.  I don’t want to play the “what if I won a million dollars” game.  I want and desire purpose.  Purpose driven life.  Purpose driven wealth.   I would much rather say, “When I earn a million dollars, this is what I will do.”  Because I planned it that way.

It's true!!  Dreams come true.  In my last blog I wrote about making it happen, how it can happen and a little bit about what it takes to make it happen.  Imagine what your life would be like if you didn't have to ask how much something cost to decide if you were going to buy it or not.  Really think about that for a minute.  Most of us don't think twice about the cost when we go to the grocery store for essential items or to fast food restaurants for meals.  We just get what we need and not a lot of extra.  But, what do you do when you go to buy a new TV, a vehicle or a house.  You usually buy what you think that you can afford.  What would it be like to just buy what it is that you want, within reason that is?  Obviously I'm not talking about a multi-million dollar mansion and mint condition limited collectible vehicles.  I'm talking about real life and the things that you are faced with on a day to day basis.  Think about having, because you earned it, the home that you've driven by on your way to work that you would just love to have and, while your at it, driving to that home in the vehicle that you want.  Picture what it is that you want, the brand, color, options and any other features that you can think of.  Do you believe that you can have it?  Why or why not?  I will dare to say that if you don't think that you can have it that you have accepted your fate, that you believe that it is your fate to live the lifestyle that you are living because that's how it's supposed to be.  For the sake of argument I am going to play devils advocate.  That must be what you want, to live the lifestyle that you're living, no matter what you have or don't have.  Unless you're Bill Gates, Warren Buffet or Donald Trump, you can probably do better for yourself and your family.  Do you really think that a better lifestyle is not for you?  If you do, it's partially due to the fact that you are not clear in your mind of what it is that you want.  Whatever it is that you really want, write it down and put that piece of paper where you can see it every day, many times a day.  Read it, believe that it can happen and ignore the thoughts that tell you that you can't have it.  Instead of focusing on the thought that you can't have it, focus on positive thoughts about how you can attain it!  Be positive!  Believe in yourself!

I am not pretending to be a motivational speaker or an expert on anything, but I have changed my outlook and I am determined to live the lifestyle that I want.  The funny thing is that I don't need to be a multi-millionaire to live the lifestyle that I want.  I am not that different from the next person.  I just want my bills paid off and to send my kids to college without having to worry about where the next tuition payment is going to come from.  I want to invest so that when I retire I can enjoy my retirement and not have to work until I'm 70 or older.  My vision is to travel and have fun during retirement, to enjoy grandkids and to be healthy enough to be active in their lives.  I believe that that can and will happen.  To be honest, I never think about it not being that way.  I also honestly believe that you can make that, as well as any other wish that you have, come true!  It really does start in the mind. 

If you need to make a change for your dreams to come true, what are you going to do to make it happen?  How will you make it happen?  I cannot and will not force you to do anything about it, that's not possible.  What is possible is that if you believe that you can change your life, you are in the right place at the right time!  What is it that brought you to read this right now?  It is opportunity knocking!!!  That's what it is!!! 

Read through the other entries in this weblog.  What do you think is going to happen?  Do you really think that you are going to a business or a company that just gives money away because they want you to have what you want?  Are you going to buy a brand name franchise and expect to not have to work?  If you don't change something, tomorrow will be just like today for infinity!!!  Maybe you are happy where you are and you are OK with that, that's fine.  If you're not OK with that then I have an incredible opportunity to change your life and make your dreams come true.  You can look for free and get a free gift to help you make money with any business that you may already be involved in or may become involved in, either way, it's your's for free and who knows, you may just make your dreams come true!!

Since our last post, we've gotten engaged!!  It's been 3 weeks since we've blogged.  We were busy making wedding plans as we were going to try and get it done before Christmas.  But alas, plans have changed slightly.  We now have a little more time to sit and talk to you.  We are looking at a Spring of 2010 wedding and we can't wait!!!!  Seems like there is a disconnect between the head and the heart so knowing what is the right thing to do and doing the right thing isn't always easy.  This is Gina's daughter's senior year of high school and she couldn't fathom moving away for her last year (we were going to open enroll her to her same school so it just meant a little time on the road for her each day which mom was actually excited about since they don't get a lot of face to face time these days).  So, we have decided to wait until she is nearer the end of her school year to tie the proverbial knot.  It seems like a long time until then but everyone we talk to that has had a graduating teenager promises us that this is the year that will fly. 

The trip to Minneapolis/St. Paul was fun, adventurous and not too stressful on anyone!  As you know, I was a little worried about Gina and her daughter trying to tolerate 2 ten year olds (boy/girl twins) and another teenage girl.  That was a lot of estrogen in itself!!!  Add to that, the 10 yr old boy that is constantly ganged up on by his sisters but who loves to be the center of attention!!!  He talked non-stop for 3 hours!!!  I think Gina and her daughter were ready to go home!!!  Things got better and a good time was had by all!!!  Ty (10 yr old boy) did manage to get an autograph from Joba Chamberlain of the New York Yankees!!!  I don't know how many people he cut in front of, how many toes that he stepped on or how many elbows he threw on his way, but he did say thank you to Mr. Chamberlain, who appreciated the courtesy and extended the same courtesy in return.  Our beloved New York Yankees did win the game against the Minnesota Twins.

It coulda been a world record.

It woulda been among the biggest groupers ever landed.

And it certainly shoulda been weighed.

Four men fishing out of Bay City Lodge the morning of June 25 landed a leviathan-size Warsaw grouper that arguably eclipsed the world record of 436 pounds, 12 ounces, set by Capt. Steve Haeusler, fishing out of Destin on Dec. 22, 1985.

Based on its length of 82" long and girth of 66 inches, and using one of several conventional formulas designed to estimate weight, the behemoth grouper might well have tipped the scales at about 446 pounds had they tried to ascertain its poundage.

"No, we didn't weigh it," said the group's leader, Billy Daniels, from Moody, Ala. "We wanted to go back out fishing."

The magnificent specimen of Epinephelus nigritus was landed about 15 miles southeast of St. George Island, off the artificial reef made from remnants of the old Apalachicola Bridge.

The four men were all aboard Daniels' 23-foot Polar Bay boat they had driven down from Birmingham on one of their twice-yearly trip to the legendary fish camp. "This is about our third year," said Daniels. "The last week of June we come down to Bay City for seven or eight days."

The men, Daniels' son-in-law Clint Haley and friend Ken Debrick, both from Paola, Kan., son Shawn Daniels, from Stanley, Kan.; and Billy Daniels had come prepared to outsmart the giant-sized groupers that bedeviled them in the past.

The men had fretted how they kept getting their lines snagged in the reef. "We kept getting hung up, do two cranks on the reel and it would stop," he said. "We got back to Bay City and they told us ‘You're not getting hung up. You're feeding the groupers."

So Daniels studied up on how these huge reef fish would watch to see the littler guys snagged on a hook, and then snack on them as they struggled against the tug.

"This year I bought a real big pole just for that," said Daniels.

The crew outfitted the 100-pound rod, custom made in Texas, with an Okuma Titus Silver 50 Wide 2-Speed Trolling Reel, and 200-lb. Momoi Diamond monofilament leader.

"It's one of the best lines you can buy," said Daniels, noting the line has a tensile strength of up to twice that of stated line tests.

On the end was a 16/0 circle hook, among the largest out there, baited with croaker caught by Haley, the crew's "gruntmaster."

The crew got to the reef about 8 a.m., and got the anchor set about 8:20 a.m. They were ready.

"The day before we hooked another fish, my son fought the fish, and it had a 20-inch grouper unharmed in its mouth," said Daniels. "You put a really good tug on it and he tries to spit it out."

First to come up that Thursday morning was "a nice cobia" and then came the big one.

Shawn Daniels then caught "a nice black snapper," weighing about 10 pounds, with a different rod.

It was time for the big one.

Daniels said it took his son only about 15 minutes to bring the Warsaw to the surface from about 80 feet of water. "When we saw that thing coming up, I thought ‘My goodness, that can't be real,'" he said.

Daniels said the crew at first prepared to release their catch, thinking it was a goliath grouper, the so-called jewfish, which is a prohibited species.

"You can't keep those," he said, recalling how he and his wife caught and released a 50-pound goliath grouper at Sikes Cut over Memorial Day weekend..

"But it's a complete different looking fish," Daniels said. "(Warsaw) has a square tail and doesn't have a banded stripe."

Once they got over their amazement, the men took another 15 minutes to figure out how to get the enormous fish into the boat.

"We all got to a corner of the back of boat, and once we got his head on to the boat, the boat kind of leaned over and we backed up and pulled him back in," said Daniels. "There was no way we can lift him, we just had to slide him."

Whatever it was that attracted the attention of the Warsaw's appetite will never be known. "The hook was in his lip but whatever was on there was gone," said Daniels. "We don't know."

With the fish crowding them on the 23-foot boat, the crew headed back to Bay City, and pulled in a little before 10:30 a.m.

"I went into the office and I said ‘We got a problem. We have a fish we can't get out of the boat,'" Daniels said.

When Bay City manager Buddy Renfro went out to see it, he was flabbergasted. "He thought I was joking with him," said Daniels.

"It had eight big old hooks in its mouth," said Renfro.

He said the men told him, before realizing it was a Warsaw, "the first thing they were fixing to let him go. They done unhooked him and they gaffed him back."

Renfro's son got a backhoe to lift the fish out of the boat, and then suspended it overhead as the men posed with their catch.

Unable to find a suitable scale, and unwilling to transport it to a second location to have it weighed, the men proceeded to clean it right on the Bay City dock.

"It took about three-and-a-half hours," said Daniels. "There was about 20 people who came over and looked at it."

The fish yielded six five-gallon buckets of filleted meat, which was then vacuum-packed. "They took about 80 pounds of meat back to Kansas City," aid Daniels. "We took the rest back to Birmingham."

A vice president of engineering for Precision Husky, a Leeds, Ala. firm that specializes in building heavy equipment, Daniels was off the next week to Vancouver, British Columbia.

He had high hopes, but a radiator leak on a track machine that grinds material for biomass, forced cancellation of Daniels' plans to fish for trout in one of glorious Canadian lakes nearby.

Meanwhile, a digital picture of his crew now graces the walls of Bay City, near the black-and-white snapshots of decades ago, when Milton Houseman, Louis Roux and other local fishermen can be seen with massive catches of their own.

"I figure that fish was about 25 years old," said Roux, adding what may be a world-record understatement:

"They're kind of rare," he said. "You don't catch them every day."

Bay City owner Jimmy Mosconis, who was out fishing the morning the fish came in, said in 35 years as the fish camp's owner "I have never seen a fish that was remotely close to that size."

Haeusler, the world record holder, said he heard rumors of a Louisiana fish that may have rivaled that state's 359-pound record, and of the Bay City catch. He said he didn't recall the dimensions of his 436-pound record breaker, but that "when it laid in the back of a pickup, it filled it up.

"I wish they had weighed it," he said. "That's a pretty good fish right there."

Courage.  It is a word that conjures up images of great and dramatic actions. And yet I realize that we all have the opportunity to be courageous every day, in small and large ways. And it is when we choose to be courageous that we change our lives and the lives of those around us.

Can you name anything of any significance that did not emanate from some sort of courageous decision? I can't. Think of the changes that we have experienced in the last few decades and trace them back to their initial decision. Chances are, someone exhibited courage.

So what is courage? It is simply acting on what we want to do, regardless of any fear we may have. It is the choice to disregard worry. It is the choice to do right, to pursue our dreams, to be successful people, to lead the way for others.

Courage changes lives. Yes, it changes lives.

First, the day you begin to stare down your fears and worries, and instead act courageously, your life will change. You will be set free to fly like you never have before. You will accomplish things you once only dreamed of. You will experience things you thought were only for others - the courageous ones. You will realize that your fears were baseless and just paper tigers, a mirage. You will begin to live your dreams. You will become a person of character!

You will also change the lives of others. Simply put, courageous people pull others along with them. Everybody benefits from courageous people. I have a friend who I admire greatly. A little over a year ago he decided to leave a lucrative career and pursue a dream. All obstacles were thrown his way. The day he left his company, he found out that his wife had cancer. He went into a great deal of debt to finance his dream. He raised millions of dollars, putting his name and reputation on the line. He acted courageously. A year later, he has over fifty employees and growing monthly. Those employees are reaping the benefit of his courage! And his wife, who beat cancer, is acting courageously with him!

Here are some quick tips for acting courageously:

Know what you want.  Courage is about choice. If you are to act courageously, you need to know what the right choice is. Be clear about your dream and vision.

Do not worry. I heard recently that worry is the wrong use of the imagination. That is perhaps the best definition I have ever heard. Worry is just thinking about all of the bad possibilities, isn't it? Well, courage is just thinking about all the great possibilities and then acting upon them!

Do your homework.  It helps to get the facts. It helps because then you can make an informed decision that will put your heart and mind to rest. There will probably be a downside, but we understand it, choose alternatives and act decisively instead of those.

Act.  There is no substitute for the first step. Do you know what you want? Have you thought of the possibilities? Have you done your homework? The next step is to take the first step, and ACT!

Yes Folks That's right,

Start by saying I love you, I love you, I love you ....................

If you spent your entire day and every day for a week repeating those 3 words over and over again in your mind your life will become more successful overnight.

Take a walk today for 15 minutes and say I love you to EVERY SINGLE PERSON YOU ENCOUNTER --- I can hear you now you are thinking the person that wrote this is absolutely bonkers ---------- Yea right -- I'm sure I am going to say I love You to everyone I encounter. ---

I will give you a break do it silently in your mind --- however just do it.

When you are at the grocery store checkout stand ---- Say I love you to the clerk

When you are at the gas station pumping gas --- silently look AT EVERYONE --- DON'T ELIMINATE ANYONE --- NO QUALIFYING --- silently say I Love You to everyone you see at the gas station.

When you are talking to someone on the phone ---- no matter who it is say I Love You over and over in your mind as you are listening.

This is your mantra for the next week -------------- I LOVE YOU, I LOVE YOU, I LOVE YOU, I LOVE YOU ................ non stop.

Say it to the birds, the bees, the dogs, the ants, the spiders and your food and water.

Of course to your family and friends -- the dearest ones in your life -- please do say it out loud.

Here's an experiment --- if you have an unruly child -- look them in the eye and softly say I Love You over and over and over again for at least a minute.   Or whisper it in their ear --- not just one or 2 times ----- at least 30

Leave nothing or no one out ------------ I GUARANTEE YOU THAT YOUR LIFE WILL BE MORE SUCCESSFUL BY THE END OF THE 7 DAYS!!!!

Your Mantra is I LOVE YOU --- to the person that cuts you off on the freeway, to the annoying dog across the street, to the rowdy kids down the block ---- say I love You, I love You, I love you ............... This goes for everyone of you

I don't care if you are a hardened criminal, a pompous twit, a street person or a self made millionaire with an attitude ................. if you want more of anything in life start spreading love.  

If you don't feel like you have any love to spread --- believe you me you do --- you are a love machine ---------- you are overflowing with love --- that is what our pristine self is made out of.  

Look at any brand new baby - a pristine new baby ----- every cell in their being is love and nothing has changed --- you are still that baby and you are still made out of love.  

It is a really a weird concept and believe me when I really contemplated love and what it is it was an incredibly mind expanding concept.

The first day of my epihany about love I did exactly what I described above and have been doing it ever since --- it has been quite a transformation for me.  

Take notice of how you are feeling right now; mentally, physically, emotionally, spirtually -------- Now go take a 15 minute walk and mentally say I Love You over and over again to everyone and everything you encounter and then take notice again at the end of the 15 minutes ------------ how's it going now?   Do this with focus and intention!

Say I love You to each and  every part of your body too; especially any aches or pains you pain have --- if your arthritis hurts --- say I Love You to your painful hands and fingers --- I Love You pain, I love You fingers, I love You toes, I Love You fat hips, I Love You bald head, I Love You zits, I love you fat knees, I love you flat chest, I love you pot belly ....................

You are only limited by your imagination ---- please do this for 7 days --- it is truly astonishing!

It's something we all have in common. We're curious about the future, wondering, “What's going to happen in my life tomorrow, next week and next year?’ It's human nature to think, analyze, and study life. Sometimes the conclusion of that study is to worry about the future.  Today, there are so many negative messages bombarding us through the media. People are worried about paying the mortgage, putting food on the table, whether or not they will have a job tomorrow, putting their children through college, retirement and caring for their families. These are real concerns of life, but I'm convinced that simply worrying about what's going to happen tomorrow won't change the outcome.  

Many people assume that the future is a mystery that we have little or no control over. Some view themselves as victims of fate, dependent on the next lucky break. They sing a powerless mantra of Qué Será, Será and plod through life. The truth is that our greatest power is our power to choose.

When I was in my late 20s, I recognized how quickly life passes by. I began giving serious thought to my future and I meditated on the ways that it was being formed. As I began to study my life and the lives of successful people ahead of me, I discovered a number of forces at work that create the life we live. Once I identify the forces that got me where I am, I can use those forces to my advantage to form my future. Here are a few that I found:    

Force of Beliefs
Changing your belief system can change your life. You can have something right in your heart, but wrong in your mind and no amount of good intentions or right motives will compensate for self-sabotaging beliefs. Do you think you got the short end of the stick? Do you believe you have insurmountable adversity? Do you wonder whether you are a chump or a champ? Do you believe that you are strong or weak?  

- Remember this: your most dominant beliefs always win. So choose to believe good things about yourself and your future.

Force of Relationships
Going anywhere substantial is impossible alone. For instance, when I board an airplane to take me to another city, there are teams of people who are involved in my journey. There are members of the security team who keep me safe. There are the pilots I trust to be competent and qualified to get me to my destination. There are the flight attendants, who make the journey comfortable and more enjoyable. This team helps me get to where I want to go. My journey is better, safer and complete because of these people. In the same way, your life's journey will involve people connections.

- Evaluate the relationships in your life, taking the initiative to surround yourself with people who will help you get to the places of your highest potential.  

Force of Habits
Great people have great habits. The power of our success or failure is in what we do repeatedly. One does not become a coffee drinker because he drank one cup of coffee, or a smoker because he smoked one cigarette, or a generous person because of one gift given. We improve our lives when we change our habits. Don't put all your energy into getting rid of bad habits. Instead, focus on developing good habits to replace the bad ones. For example, giving compliments breaks the habit of being critical, eating healthy foods breaks the yearning for unhealthy foods, and paying attention to time breaks the habit of being late.

- Put your energy into developing good habits.

Force of Words
More than a sound, words are a creative force. They have the power to bring encouragement, blessing, healing and wisdom or hurt, shame and discouragement. Words change the course of history. The words of Abraham Lincoln and Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. pointed us toward the goals of justice and equality, and Patrick Henry's "Give me liberty or give me death'' speech connected with his countrymen and rallied them to victory in the Revolutionary War. Words have the power to bless or curse the future. The people you influence are counting on you to speak words of life, truth and hope.

- Think about this: how would your life be different if your words were more positive, uplifting and encouraging?

This is what I love about the future: We can do something about it. These are just a few of the factors that impact our life. We don't have to feel powerless, pessimistic or anxious about what lies ahead. I believe we can partner with God to live the best lives He has called us to. It is never too late to decide that you're going to take ownership of the choices you make in life. Our greatest power is our power to choose.

The team their couldn't have been nicer.  The bike were awesome, and the crowd was the best.  I love hanging out with Harley loving people... They are the best!

Chris' Commentary:
I don't always like quoting myself (perhaps I need a quote on humility?) but I accidentally said this in a speech I gave some time ago and I thought of how much truth there is in this statement. So much so, that I want to share it with you. Being a person of high character and low skills is okay, and people will respect you, which is good. You just won't achieve much. Low character and high skills will make people follow you or buy from you once - until they realize you have no character. The key to success is to have a high character and excellence in your skills. This two-pronged approach will make you a leader and enable you to soar high in life!

Action Point: Do you work a lot on your skills? Most people do. Take some time this week to work as much on your character as you do on your skills. This time you spend will return tenfold to you!

I was hired to do some training for a sales team from one of the largest companies in America. There were 16 people on this team. That year their sales (for the 16 of them) were close to 250 million - that's right, a quarter of a billion - dollars! Needless to say, it was an excellent and fascinating time. I decided to learn a little bit myself, so I watched them closely to see what kind of people they were and to see what common denominators they shared. Below is what I found. I think you will find the elements applicable to your own life.

The first thing I noticed about this successful sales team was that they had a sense of humor! They simply weren't a terribly serious bunch of people. Instead, they saw that life was to be enjoyed and that means they were able to laugh a little bit. Sure, there were varying levels in this but they all had a sense of humor. They were able to laugh at circumstances, and they were able to laugh at themselves. It was quite refreshing and a core element of their success, I'm sure.

The second thing I found out about this group was that they did not achieve their success through pedigree, but through hard work. They didn't come from families that gave them a free pass into the upper echelon of the corporate world and they didn't get a head start from upper crust universities. What got them to where they are now? Hard work! That's right, another example that if you put your mind to it, work hard and get in the right situation, you can achieve great things! These folks work long hours and are disciplined in the work they do. And it is paying off.

The third thing I noticed about this team is that they are learners. They were always engaged in the learning process. During my sessions they were engaged and listening. You could see their minds processing the information. They were asking questions and applying the material to their work and their lives. They wanted to improve in any way that they could. It was also interesting to watch them in their team meetings led by their sales manager. They were very interactive and were learning from one another. None of them was above learning from a peer.

What did I see in these successful people? The same things that can make you a success as you apply the principles to your own life: A sense of humor, hard work, and a desire to learn at every turn.

The country is divided.  Money and no money is the division.  Those who choose to not share the wealth will find they live with poverty all around them.  Just watch.  I personally will share the wealth as I am thankful for all I have and I do not enjoy seeing others hurting.  The country needs to adjust and learn to stop spending what we don't have as well as help those who go without.  This goes from the top levels of government to us citizens on an individual level.  If we choose to stay divided just watch what is going to happen.  Those with the mindset that anyone can just go get a job to get out of their situation have simply got there head in a dark place.  The time to show love and help others is NOW!

I started in banking at age 15 helping out after school at my Dad's bank.  I worked at helping out in customer service and I also helped with answering phones and bookkeeping.  I will admit at such a young age I simply did not want to be part of the workforce.  I wanted to have just one more summer to enjoy with friends and the carefree summers of my childhood.

No regrets  though because by age 33 I had 18 years of banking experience under my belt.  The problem was though that I was also learning the lessons of corporate take overs and job eliminations.  I always new I wanted more but never could find what I was seeking in my mind.

Then after several years of job hunting letdowns in different parts of the country I simply knew I had to find something different.  I looked at all the home business opportunities and was really at a loss.  I finally found an opportunity that looked different then most others.  I started on a leap of faith to make the business work.

I can never imaging going back to a career working for someone else.  Society dictates that we go to school to learn a career and then work and work until we reach retirement.  Do you ever feel you are meant to be doing something better and live a life on your own terms?

It took me a while to finally reach the mindset of never working for anyone else again.  Once you hit this mindset you are pretty well established in your business ownership mindset.  The rest is up to the success of you business and how serious you take that business.

I seek to help others in life.  That said, I share ideas with those who seek more from life.  This in itself is just one of many ways I help make this world a better place.  For those who seek to take control and live beyond what society dictates, I offer my sincere heartfelt advice.

Enjoy life and never give up on your dreams.

I was doing my normal work yesterday renewing ads in addition to adding new ads for a new sales path.  During my work I found the newest of our sales paths was blocked by the website I was working with.

I used to get upset by this happening but I have learned that many of us have very different ideas about what spam is and we all have different levels of tolerances for spam as well.

I personally do not consider an ad for an opportunity spam.  Even if you see that add posted in 1 trillion places I still do not consider this spam.  I feel that once you opt into anything you opened the door to what you recieve.  If you opt out and you still get mail, You are being spammed.  I do not understand how people who get one email for one thing can jump right out and call anyone a spammer.

I figure they made a law about spam for a reason and those who really do break the law get what they deserve.  The rest of us who are honestly trying to share something good just have to grin and bear it when we get our heads bitten off for sharing what we have in our heart.

I personally enjoy my spam best right out of the can.

It is uncomfortable to many people leaving the comfort zone- you have the fear of unknown and think of "what if things do not work out, or where can I find money .. and so on-blah blah..This is not your fault.. we have been taught to go to school,look for a job and work harder.     If you could have what it is that you think about and dream about, but you had to earn it, not just have it given to you, what would it take to make it happen?  Most everyone, my dad is the exception (he could win the lottery and he might possibly buy a new golf club, but I'm not even sure about that), wants something better for themselves and their families.  Most of those wants involve more money for a bigger, better home, new cars, kids' college funds, clothes, vacations and the list goes on and on.  I believe that it is achievable!  Do you?  I have been caught up in the "some day it will happen" mode.  As I have explained in some other blogs, there is plenty of money out there to be made.  How can you get your share of that money.  You will probably have to do something differently.  You already know that, no matter how much or how little money that you earn, you spend it!!  Most of us could cut costs and save ourselves some expenses and bills but we feel that we are entitled, or that we deserve whatever it is that we spend our money on, I know that I do.  What will motivate you to take a step, a leap of faith that there is more out there for you?  There are thousands of millionaires out there, if not millions.  Not all of them started out with money.  Aren't those the best stories?  The ones that had nothing, had lost everything and yet now they're millionaires, or even more?  Do you believe that you can be one of them? 

     I have heard, and I believe, that making the money is not the hard part, the hard part is changing your attitude about having what you want.  You have to change your mindset & believe that you are worth it and that you are capable.  There are many books and media available for your personal education on this topic.  It all starts in your mind, you have to believe in yourself and clear your thoughts as to what it is that you want.  The hardest part is to get rid of the "demons" that haunt you and tell you that you are living the life that you were meant to live, that you were not meant to have what you really want and that you were meant to work your life away only to earn enough money to pay your bills and buy essential items.  You must clear your mind of that and good things will happen.  You bring about what you think about!  Every time that a negative thought comes into your head, you take a step backwards.  You must clear your mind of those thoughts.  It will be difficult for most because those thoughts have always been reality.  Can you change the way you think?  I think that you can and if you really want to, I know that you can!!

     Another secret is that money is not evil!!  That is difficult for some people to understand.  Wealthy people give more to charities in this country than many people earn in a year.  Wealthy people are not evil, some evil people are wealthy.  Don't be confused by that!  Part of the secret of earning money is that you have to give back in any way that you want and you must give for the right reasons, because it's what you believe in and because you truly want to give.  I can't explain it, when you give and you donate, you feel better about yourself and you receive in return, it just works that way.  Give it a try!!

     What motivates you?  What will you do to change your current financial situation?  Will you write down what it is that you really want for your family and yourself?  Write down what you want and believe that there is a way.  It is very possible that you can afford to pay for your own, or your kids' college education.  It is very possible that you can pay off your debt or buy that dream home that you want or anything else it is that you desire.  It will take a new way of thinking and confidence that you are worth it.  In many cases it will require you to venture into unfamiliar territory, but if you really are clear about what it is that you want for you and your family, that will be an easy step.

Not Much Time Lately...

I've been grinding at the stone so to speak with work, so I haven’t really had that much time to get out and get some Grouper. The last time we went out was back in May. We fished a Kingfish tournament and did ok. We at least caught some kings, although they weren't big enough to place, they were still a blast to catch!

I saw an article the other day on no Grouper Harvest in 2010, and I'm really hoping this is not the case. I cannot believe that they would actually shut it down for good. There are plenty of fish out there to be caught, and you add in the fact that less and less people are venturing into the gulf to fish these days, thanks to the economy, that would be the major factor in restoring populations.

Scallop season recently opened in the gulf waters off of Florida, and I am rearing to go! I think I'll actually make it scalloping before I venture back offshore again.

Either way, you can rest assure that I will post about it!

The Grady-White Express 360 would be one of my first choices if looking for a large, offshore, overnight luxury, cabin style, walk-around boat. The Express 360 comes in just shy of 40 feet (LOA) and has a beam of 13 ft 2 inches. I've actually had the pleasure of being on one of these boats and I can say first hand, it is a true luxury boat. The big thing that I remember about this boat, and the first thing that I always think about, is the simple fact that trimmed with the right options, the fisherman never needs ice! Yea, you read that right. The fish boxes and coolers run from generator power to cool metal plates that are within them. No need for ice, just have your generator gassed up and your set!

The helm is extremely roomy, with plenty of seating room for cruising the bay or getting offshore quickly to your fishing spot. The cabin, with its luxury lined interior is certain to impress even the larger sport-fishing boat owners. This is a great all around family boat. A family of 5 would have no problem spending an overnight fishing trip on the Grady-White Express 360.

Just be sure to bring your cleanup supplies, because this boat is way too nice to leave dirty! I would almost be scared to fish from it in fear of staining the gel coat.

The Yellowfin 29 CC

The Yellowfin 29 comes in at just over 30 feet in length with a weight of just 7400 lbs. That's pretty impressive when you look at the quality and size of this boat. Yellowfin is a leader in offshore boats and remains my favorite to this day. Just take a look at the lines on this boat. It has a deadrise that you only find on much larger walk around type boats. Similar to a larger cabin style Grady or Mako.

The Yellowfin 29 boasts a beam of 9'6". That is a nice size beam for fishing the roughest of weather, which the Yellow in will certainly tolerate. A 250 Gallon fuel tank is sure to get you to the numbers that you need to reach. And with a maximum power rating of 700HP, you are sure to get there quick!

I found it easy to attend the classes and the seminars, and to get around other successful people. They said it probably really wouldn't matter. If I had to sum it up, I would say what I found to be easy to do, they found to be easy not to do. Six years later, I'm a millionaire and they are all still blaming the economy, the government, and company policies, yet they neglected to do the basic, easy things.

In fact, the primary reason most people are not doing as well as they could and should, can be summed up in a single word: neglect.

It is not the lack of money - banks are full of money. It is not the lack of opportunity - America, and much of the free World, continues to offer the most unprecedented and abundant opportunities in the last six thousand years of recorded history. It is not the lack of books – libraries are full of books – and they are free! It is not the schools – the classrooms are full of good teachers. We have plenty of ministers, leaders, counselors and advisors.

Everything we would ever need to become rich and powerful and sophisticated is within our reach. The major reason that so few take advantage of all that we have is simply neglect.

Neglect is like an infection. Left unchecked it will spread throughout our entire system of disciplines and eventually lead to a complete breakdown of a potentially joy-filled and prosperous human life.

Not doing the things we know we should do causes us to feel guilty and guilt leads to an erosion of self-confidence. As our self-confidence diminishes, so does the level of our activity. And as our activity diminishes, our results inevitably decline. And as our results suffer, our attitude begins to weaken. And as our attitude begins the slow shift from positive to negative, our self-confidence diminishes even more... and on and on it goes.

So my suggestion is that when giving the choice of "easy to" and "easy not to" that you do not neglect to do the simple, basic, "easy"; but potentially life-changing activities and disciplines.

This blog is about going the distance by “getting your head” in the game. It’s too easy to set goals and then watch them never materialize. Why? Because we simply aren’t committed … our head, heart and actions are not in alignment.

 

I’m a runner and here’s what I know about running. I can wear the best shoes and running apparel. I can be consistent with my nutrition. However, if my head is not in the game, my performance stinks. So, I have learned over time that before I take that first step to take a few minutes to visualize my run for the day. I can see the route; I know the exact location of every hill, straight away and curve. I can visualize my body moving, breathing and taking in the smells of the countryside. I do this to achieve peak performance. And it works!

 

So, if it works for running why not apply visualization to all aspects of your life? To go the distance I have found there must be an alignment of your head, heart and actions.

If you don’t have the alignment, you might can go the distance, the HARD way. There will be a struggle with every step.

 

I’m not into creating more work for me to do. I’m into simplifying my life. Getting my head in the game and being totally committed to what I choose to do makes the difference.

You got it right.  3 months after I moved here to California I made a decision that I would not own a car again until I moved from this state.  Why you ask?

Well since the state of California decided to suspend my registration for non proof of insurnace which happened to be wrong.  I made a decision to beat the system.

I did all the required hoop jumping to show I had insurance on my vehicle and they still insisted that I did not have the insurance.  So how I handled the situation was I sold the car.  Yes, I was grinning big that day. 

Now I save on the cost of insurance.  I do not care what gas cost.  I do not have to worry about my car being stolen or broken in and I no longer have to deal with those lovely birds and bugs doing a number on my car finish.

I walk a lot now.  I see things I never saw when I was driving my car.  I have noticed buildings and plants that I never noticed driving by in my neighborhood.   I talk to more people and I say hi and share love with more people.

I am thankful I made a decision to work from home because if I still had a J O B I would still need that car.  I anjoy life and try to keep it simple.  Some time look at how much you waste on gas going here and there when indeed maybe you could just walk and start seeing the world through a different view.

Enjoy life every day.

Demise of The American Dream?

Some may think that The American Dream is gone.  I have been part of discussions on this very subject and I actually agreed that the dream is no longer within reach.

Then I laid in bed this morning and I had to correct my own thinking.  Yes, with the demise of GM, Chrysler, and other big names in addition to corporate takeovers and downsizing it is getting pretty rough to go out and find a job.  I am a personal witness to having my job cut as well as seeing first hand how friends around this country have lost jobs, lost homes as well as have to struggle for food.

Lets take a look at our basic freedom as Americans.  We have the right to start a business and we don't even have to go get permission first.  That said, once you get the right mindset and plan of action there is no real excuse for not being able to live The American Dream.  I just happen to be building a business and the only tools I use are a $300.00 computer and a business plan I found online.

Sometimes you have to rely on faith to get past a bad situation and I am no exception.  I lost a nice paying job that I had for 18 years.  I lost a home I purchased for cash because the cost of the homeowners insurance got out of hand in relation to my debt ratio.  I have had the cars and the toys.  I have seen my father who is a retired bank president loose all his savings because of the recent drop of the stock market due to the financial industries mismanagement.

You can take a bow and live a lower level of life and adjust or rise above it and do something to start reliving The American Dream.  I was doing the latter and I never really even took the time to acknowledge what I was doing.  I was fighting to run a successfull small business with a mindset this is so hard to make work.  Until this morning when i realized that I have more then what so many people do not have in this country.  I have the security of a job where I am in control and I have no one but myself to blame if I end up without a job. 

Take the time to look at who you are and why you are in this world.  Look at your future and see how bright it looks.  If you do not like what you see then its time to make a change and do what it takes to provide for yourself and those you love.  I am part of a group of people who are in the business of sharing ideas.  These ideas are to help others succeed.  I invite you to look at this system and be part of this group who has not only helped me on a personal level of success, but also on a level of thinking as those who succeed think.
