Where has time gone?

As I start to ponder about what gift I should give, I reflected back on my college days…what could I have used.  I heard someone say that we have a choice to take something that most people dread, and change it into a motivating factor.

This is a tough one because network marketing is about people. It is about talking to people who have an interest in a home based business opportunity and helping them see one that works for them.

Most people would say that you have to at least like people of you are going to be in network marketing. The reason for this is because you will be talking to hundreds of people over time. The good news is that if you find people who are already interested in an opportunity you don't have to talk them into anything.

Networking to Success

If you have ever gone to a networking event on or offline, you will know that it can be awkward. You don't know the individual and you are not sure what to say. You will meet people who are very friendly and they put you at ease. These are the people who are very successful because they have learned how to make people feel at ease with them right away.

If you totally do not like people you probably will not make it in network marketing. However, if you are willing to learn how to talk with people so that you can develop rapport easily, you will have no problem working within network marketing.

Lead Generation Helps Success

Most people do not have a strong method of lead generation. They think that they have to talk to their friends and family who usually are not interested in anything but going to work everyday. Many people would say that selling is the most important aspects of network marketing and in some cases this is true but there are two aspects of an opportunity that you must take a look at to see what you need to do.

On the one hand there is a product that can be sold. People can sell vitamins, travel, soap, natural drinks and more. These products are available for sale but most people do not sell them. Instead, they show people how their product can benefit them and can help them save money.

Selling should have nothing to do with network marketing if you are able to build the rapport with people and present an opportunity that they can see as something they need.

I Don't Know Enough People

No one knows the many people who will be interested in a network marketing opportunity. If they did money would be made a lot faster. However, there are hundreds of ways to generate leads and the best ways tap into people who are all-day looking for an opportunity.

Lead generation is one of the many criticisms that people have with network marketing but it does not have to be difficult. There is a system that you can use that will generate more leads than you can imagine. This system allows you to talk to only people who are already looking for an opportunity so you do not have to sell anything.

There are a lot of people who will tell you that working from home is not the utopian situation most people think it to be. And that’s true enough. But being self employed (as opposed to telecommuting) and working from a home office has its advantages. What is important is to recognize them for what they are and then maximize them.

First of all is the time saved on the daily commute to office. Even with a conservative estimate of one hour of travel each way, that’s two hours a day you are gaining for yourself. And since you are you own boss, you can use it how you want. Just be careful not to let the time slip through your hands. One good idea is to designate some daily tasks that you MUST complete in the one extra hour of the morning. Depending on your work load and how much you want to take on, there’s nothing wrong in using some of the time saved on yourself to relax and being able to function better the rest of the day.

Saving on commuting also means saving on transportation costs.  Depending on your other transport needs, you may even be able to do without a car. Either way, you can save hundreds of dollars every month.  Work out the amount of your savings on transport and make sure that at least half of it is actually saved in the bank. As in the time you save, you can spend part of the money on yourself. After all, it’s your money and whom are you working for anyway?

One of the biggest problems of going out to work everyday is that you soon get tired of eating the food you carry from home and start eating out. That’s not just expensive but also not so good for your health. Now you’re working from home, not only is the temptation to eat out removed, but perhaps you could use some of the time you are saving on commuting to make nice healthy lunches for yourself? Another way you save by working from home is the less you are out around town, the less temptation there is to be lured by an attractive display window into buying things you don’t really need.

Obviously when you are self employed, all the profits of your work come to you. With the direct relation between the effort and the income, you will be motivated to be as productive as you can be and hopefully, end up making a lot of money for yourself.

A home office means that you won’t be wasting time on water cooler gossip and all the other negatives of the formal office environment. Not only does this save you time, you won’t get distracted by the non essentials involving other people and will be able to devote all your energies into making your business a success.

And finally, there is one huge advantage of working from home that cannot be measured in time or money. And that’s being able to devote more time to your family. Of course, family should not distract you from your work, but being self employed means that you have the freedom to schedule your work to ensure family priorities are not ignored.

Sure being self employed and working from home can be very tough, demanding and at times very stressful .But if you appreciate the advantages you will have for what they are and not take them for granted, you will find that working from home can be extremely fulfilling.

You are unique, the only person in the world who truly knows what is possible in your life. Just as the eagle can't be a chicken...just as a fish can't be a bird...you too can't be someone else. But you CAN be all that YOU can be.

We are not born with courage, but neither are we born with fear. Maybe some of our fears are brought on by your own experiences, by what someone has told you, by what you've read in the papers. Some fears are valid, like walking alone in a bad part of town at two o'clock in the morning. But once you learn to avoid that situation, you won't need to live in fear of it.

Fears, even the most basic ones, can totally destroy our ambitions. Fear can destroy fortunes. Fear can destroy relationships. Fear, if left unchecked, can destroy our lives. Fear is one of the many enemies lurking inside us.

Let me tell you about five of the other enemies we face from within. The first enemy that you've got to destroy before it destroys you is indifference. What a tragic disease this is. "Ho-hum, let it slide. I'll just drift along." Here's one problem with drifting: you can't drift your way to the top of the mountain.

The second enemy we face is indecision. Indecision is the thief of opportunity and enterprise. It will steal your chances for a better future. Take a sword to this enemy.

The third enemy inside is doubt. Sure, there's room for healthy skepticism. You can't believe everything. But you also can't let doubt take over. Many people doubt the past, doubt the future, doubt each other, doubt the government, doubt the possibilities and doubt the opportunities. Worse of all, they doubt themselves. I'm telling you, doubt will destroy your life and your chances of success. It will empty both your bank account and your heart. Doubt is an enemy. Go after it. Get rid of it.

The fourth enemy within is worry. We've all got to worry some. Just don't let it conquer you. Instead, let it alarm you. Worry can be useful. If you step off the curb in New York City and a taxi is coming, you've got to worry. But you can't let worry loose like a mad dog that drives you into a small corner. Here's what you've got to do with your worries: drive them into a small corner. Whatever is out to get you, you've got to get it. Whatever is pushing on you, you've got to push back.

The fifth interior enemy is over-caution. It is the timid approach to life. Timidity is not a virtue; it's an illness. If you let it go, it'll conquer you. Timid people don't get promoted. They don't advance and grow and become powerful in the marketplace. You've got to avoid over-caution.

Do battle with the enemy. Do battle with your fears. Build your courage to fight what's holding you back, what's keeping you from your goals and dreams. Be courageous in your life and in your pursuit of the things you want and the person you want to become.

Five Success Keys

We could probably have an interesting discussion on the definition of success. The one I favor was authored by Earl Nightingale, more than fifty years ago: "Success is the progressive realization of a worthy ideal."

I really like that definition because it takes money out of the equation unless it's your specific ideal. It says that the stay-at-home Mom is a success if she's staying home because she wants to. It says that a teacher, or a carpenter, or a Starbucks barista is a success if they are doing what they want to do instead of what they have to do.

Regardless of the field in which one is successful, there are criteria or keys for success that apply to every endeavor. Here are five of those Keys:

Essentials for Success and Achievement

1. Taking Personal Responsibility

Successful people don't play the blame game. They don't blame the government, the economy, their boss, their spouse, the traffic or anything else for the challenges they face or the obstacles the encounter. They take responsibility for their own behavior and figure out a way to deal with life's difficulties, which, by the way, are common to us all.

2. Seek Wisdom vs. Information

Napoleon Hill is famous for saying: "We become what we think about." You see he, and others before him, understood that our thoughts and our thinking will shape our behavior. The ideas you develop will one day manifest themselves in future behavior, so guard carefully what you think about and dwell on. Seek wisdom instead of information. Always be on the lookout for wise people and wisdom literature to help shape your thinking - and future actions.

3. Be a Person of Action

"The only measure of what you believe is what you do." Ashley Montagu coined those words over a century ago but the truth of that statement will stand forever. Success and achievement in any endeavor are the result of doing what needs to be done at the earliest possible opportunity. Do the most important things first!

4. Choose Joy Over Happiness

Happiness is often associated with circumstances. If I'm in a good place and things are going well, I'm happy. If things aren't going so well, I'm not.

Joy, on the other hand, starts with being at peace with ourselves. It's being comfortable in our own skin and understanding that, in most cases, "this too shall pass." The ups and downs of life are inevitable and experienced by everyone. Joy overrides unpleasant circumstances.

5. Stay Focused on Your Vision

Two essentials for success and achievement are vision and focus. Having a very clear vision of what we want to accomplish puts us in the top five percent of the marketplace and our competition. Staying focused on the vision and doing those things that move us to fulfilling our vision are what take us over the top.

Taking Stock

1. Are you taking personal responsibility for your success and achievement?
2. Do you have a friend or mentor you can trust to inject a little wisdom in your life from time to time?
3. Are you a person of action? Are you doing the most important things first?
4. Is your focus on joy or happiness?
5. Is your eye on your vision or your circumstances?

After I read this, it really helped me have a clear vision of my goal. With a clear vision I can accomplish anything I choose. My my friends and mentor, Les Taylor wrote these "Five Success Keys".

I started in network marketing back in 2007.  I spend one year working a system where all you had to do was market to drive traffic to your web page.  This proved not to be as easy as it sounded and the system has a few flaws that made sales of the product sold not quite so easy.  After one year on this system I followed my heart and left the marketing tool behind and decided to give sales on my own a try. 

I will admit I am not a sales person and though I refused to make phone calls I still managed to make as many sales in 2 months as I did on the previous system I was using to market for the last year.  Though I was starting to gain momentum I knew in my heart I would be out of business soon unless I found another marketing tool to help make a significant amount of sales in a shorter time frame.

I followed my heart and prayed for an answer.  Then one day last month I got an email from a friend who was associated with the old marketing system I was using.  I trusted this person as well as knew God was trying to show me a path to follow.  I did what it took to get started with this marketing system even though it was still in prelaunch stage.  Now I am part of a system that allows me to market my previous product as well as more products at a wider range of pricing.

This is a blog post from a good friend of mine from Molalla Oregon.

Unemployment, in Oregon, has increased again. It is now at 12.3% - the highest level since records began. The current administration has spent trillions to rescue failing businesses and "stimulate the economy", yet money remains tight, foreclosures continue and employment continues to fall. The only segment of the economy which seems to be growing is government and the tax-payer supported market.

I urge that each and every American look at your own circumstance and ask yourself: Is anything in my life getting better, do I feel more financially secure, and am I more optimistic about where our country and the economy is heading?

If anyone can answer yes to ANY of these questions then perhaps it's time to put away the Prozac and protest banners so we can run into the streets and celebrate our victory over the "great recession"!

I, for one, cannot. I also agree with Ben Franklin: “God governs in the affairs of man. And if a sparrow cannot fall to the ground without His notice, is it probable that an empire can rise without His aid? We have been assured in the Sacred Writings that except the Lord build the house, they labor in vain that build it. I firmly believe this. Perhaps it's time for praying - not preying.

I got a brother who just told me a month ago he will have to work until the day he dies.  He is a banker and his wife is a teacher.  How sad that they will both have to work until the day of their deaths.  No retirement is something that I would not accept in my life.  My brother still thinks I am nuts for my sticking it out in in my online business.

Its simply I refuse to let society and government tell me that I am going to have to work my fanny off and lost it all to downsizing, not retire or end up sick like my Dad and not be able to enjoy retirement. 

Think twice about society and government and think about the life you know you deserve.  Take the time to do what it takes to give yourself the life you know you deserve.  I work as much or as little as I want each day.  I took a day off last week and shared that information with a waitress at a resturant.  You know the look she gave me was like HUH!  I simply told her this is how I WANT MY LIFE and she replied "must be nice".  I did give her a nice tip.  The real tip was the idea I was trying to get into her head but she never did get it.

I help people in my business.  I help share ideas.  If I can help just one person today to realize that they do not have to go punch a clock or listen to their self serving boss enother day, then I am doing my part to help.  There are a lot of people who are not making it with a normal job.  Even two jobs.  Time to wake up to the new way of living and start living each day for yourself and the ones you love.

No matter what your values and what your beliefs we all need to take the time to enjoy life to the fullest.  This is what life is supposed to be all about.

Some may think that The American Dream is gone.  I have been part of discussions on this very subject and I actually agreed that the dream is no longer within reach.

Then I laid in bed this morning and I had to correct my own thinking.  Yes, with the demise of GM, Chrysler, and other big names in addition to corporate takeovers and downsizing it is getting pretty rough to go out and find a job.  I am a personal witness to having my job cut as well as seeing first hand how friends around this country have lost jobs, lost homes as well as have to struggle for food.

Lets take a look at our basic freedom as Americans.  We have the right to start a business and we don't even have to go get permission first.  That said, once you get the right mindset and plan of action there is no real excuse for not being able to live The American Dream.  I just happen to be building a business and the only tools I use are a $300.00 computer and a business plan I found online.

Sometimes you have to rely on faith to get past a bad situation and I am no exception.  I lost a nice paying job that I had for 18 years.  I lost a home I purchased for cash because the cost of the homeowners insurance got out of hand in relation to my debt ratio.  I have had the cars and the toys.  I have seen my father who is a retired bank president loose all his savings because of the recent drop of the stock market due to the financial industries mismanagement.

You can take a bow and live a lower level of life and adjust or rise above it and do something to start reliving The American Dream.  I was doing the latter and I never really even took the time to acknowledge what I was doing.  I was fighting to run a successfull small business with a mindset this is so hard to make work.  Until this morning when i realized that I have more then what so many people do not have in this country.  I have the security of a job where I am in control and I have no one but myself to blame if I end up without a job. 

Take the time to look at who you are and why you are in this world.  Look at your future and see how bright it looks.  If you do not like what you see then its time to make a change and do what it takes to provide for yourself and those you love.  I am part of a group of people who are in the business of sharing ideas.  These ideas are to help others succeed.  I invite you to look at this system and be part of this group who has not only helped me on a personal level of success, but also on a level of thinking as those who succeed think.

People often ask me how I became successful in that six-year period of time while many of the people I knew did not. The answer is simple: The things I found to be easy to do, they found to be easy not to do. I found it easy to set the goals that could change my life. They found it easy not to. I found it easy to read the books that could affect my thinking and my ideas. They found that easy not to. I found it easy to attend the classes and the seminars, and to get around other successful people. They said it probably really wouldn't matter. If I had to sum it up, I would say what I found to be easy to do, they found to be easy not to do. Six years later, I'm a millionaire and they are all still blaming the economy, the government, and company policies, yet they neglected to do the basic, easy things.

In fact, the primary reason most people are not doing as well as they could and should, can be summed up in a single word: neglect.

It is not the lack of money - banks are full of money. I was doing my normal work yesterday renewing ads in addition to adding new ads for a new sales path.  During my work I found the newest of our sales paths was blocked by the website I was working with.

I used to get upset by this happening but I have learned that many of us have very different ideas about what spam is and we all have different levels of tolerances for spam as well.

I personally do not consider an ad for an opportunity spam.  Even if you see that add posted in 1 trillion places I still do not consider this spam.  I feel that once you opt into anything you opened the door to what you recieve.  If you opt out and you still get mail, You are being spammed.  I do not understand how people who get one email for one thing can jump right out and call anyone a spammer.

I figure they made a law about spam for a reason and those who really do break the law get what they deserve.  The rest of us who are honestly trying to share something good just have to grin and bear it when we get our heads bitten off for sharing what we have in our heart.

I personally enjoy my spam best right out of the can.

I started in banking at age 15 helping out after school at my Dad's bank.  I worked at helping out in customer service and I also helped with answering phones and bookkeeping.  I will admit at such a young age I simply did not want to be part of the workforce.  I wanted to have just one more summer to enjoy with friends and the carefree summers of my childhood.

No regrets  though because by age 33 I had 18 years of banking experience under my belt.  The problem was though that I was also learning the lessons of corporate take overs and job eliminations.  I always new I wanted more but never could find what I was seeking in my mind.

Then after several years of job hunting letdowns in different parts of the country I simply knew I had to find something different.  I looked at all the home business opportunities and was really at a loss.  I finally found an opportunity that looked different then most others.  I started on a leap of faith to make the business work.

I can never imaging going back to a career working for someone else.  Society dictates that we go to school to learn a career and then work and work until we reach retirement.  Do you ever feel you are meant to be doing something better and live a life on your own terms?

It's true!!  Dreams come true.  In my last blog I wrote about making it happen, how it can happen and a little bit about what it takes to make it happen.  Imagine what your life would be like if you didn't have to ask how much something cost to decide if you were going to buy it or not.  Really think about that for a minute.  Most of us don't think twice about the cost when we go to the grocery store for essential items or to fast food restaurants for meals.  We just get what we need and not a lot of extra.  But, what do you do when you go to buy a new TV, a vehicle or a house.  You usually buy what you think that you can afford.  What would it be like to just buy what it is that you want, within reason that is?  Obviously I'm not talking about a multi-million dollar mansion and mint condition limited collectible vehicles.  I'm talking about real life and the things that you are faced with on a day to day basis.  Think about having, because you earned it, the home that you've driven by on your way to work that you would just love to have and, while your at it, driving to that home in the vehicle that you want.  Picture what it is that you want, the brand, color, options and any other features that you can think of.  Do you believe that you can have it?  Why or why not?  I will dare to say that if you don't think that you can have it that you have accepted your fate, that you believe that it is your fate to live the lifestyle that you are living because that's how it's supposed to be.  For the sake of argument I am going to play devils advocate.  That must be what you want, to live the lifestyle that you're living, no matter what you have or don't have.  Unless you're Bill Gates, Warren Buffet or Donald Trump, you can probably do better for yourself and your family.  Do you really think that a better lifestyle is not for you?  If you do, it's partially due to the fact that you are not clear in your mind of what it is that you want.  Whatever it is that you really want, write it down and put that piece of paper where you can see it every day, many times a day.  Read it, believe that it can happen and ignore the thoughts that tell you that you can't have it.  Instead of focusing on the thought that you can't have it, focus on positive thoughts about how you can attain it!  Be positive!  Believe in yourself!

I am not pretending to be a motivational speaker or an expert on anything, but I have changed my outlook and I am determined to live the lifestyle that I want.  The funny thing is that I don't need to be a multi-millionaire to live the lifestyle that I want.  I am not that different from the next person.  I just want my bills paid off and to send my kids to college without having to worry about where the next tuition payment is going to come from.  I want to invest so that when I retire I can enjoy my retirement and not have to work until I'm 70 or older.  My vision is to travel and have fun during retirement, to enjoy grandkids and to be healthy enough to be active in their lives.  I believe that that can and will happen.  To be honest, I never think about it not being that way.  I also honestly believe that you can make that, as well as any other wish that you have, come true!  It really does start in the mind. 

If you need to make a change for your dreams to come true, what are you going to do to make it happen?  How will you make it happen?  I cannot and will not force you to do anything about it, that's not possible.  What is possible is that if you believe that you can change your life, you are in the right place at the right time!  What is it that brought you to read this right now?  It is opportunity knocking!!!  That's what it is!!!

I believe that there is opportunity in almost everything.  We've all heard tales about the little worker bee that advanced to become the boss or the owner of a company or business.  If you are currently employed, in most cases, I believe that advancement is possible, there is probably that opportunity if you are willing to make the sacrifices necessary to make it happen.  Those sacrifices may include changing your shift schedule, furthering your education or just mastering your current job so that you are the expert in all facets of that job.  Opportunity is almost always present.

1. Accept the Unchangeable - Everything that has happened in your life to this minute is unchangeable. It’s history. Action Idea:  Write down on a sheet of paper things that happened in the past that bother you.

And you can control your own thoughts and actions by dwelling on desired results instead of the penalties of failure. The only real control you have in life is that of your immediate thought and action. Since most of what we do is a reflex, subconscious habit, it is wise not to act on emotional impulse. In personal relations, it is better to wait a moment until reason has the opportunity to compete with your emotions.

Write down in your diary one thing you will do tomorrow to help you relax more during and after a stressful day.
