Okay, the conversation before this: I was walking a short distance with my then five- and six-year-old daughters. The five-year-old was dragging behind and complaining that she was tired. She said, "Dad, will you carry me?" I replied, "Nope, that's what God gave you two legs for: So you can walk." Then came her amazingly quick retort: "No, that's what God gave you two arms for: To carry me!" The lessons you learn from little ones!

Action Point:
What did God give you your arms for today? Take some time to be sure to build something beautiful or carry someone along or defend someone weak. Wave hello, lift something up that needs to be lifted or give someone a hug. Use your arms to make yourself successful today. Use your arms to help someone else. That's what God gave them to you for!

Great Commentary:
I love quotes that are counter-intuitive because many times "counter-intuitive" is what works best in this world. This is especially true in leadership. If you think about it, there are only two options in life: Go with the crowd or against it. Those who will lead in this life must often start against the crowd and lead forcefully until the crowd sees the results and changes their direction. If you just go with the crowd, you are just part of the crowd. Even if you are going with the crowd but out in front of the crowd, that doesn't mean you are leading. It just means you are faster than the rest of the crowd! That means you're just better at being average - and that isn't what you want your life to be!

Action Point:
Think about your life. Are you going with the crowd or against it? Are you willing to lead by turning your back on the crowd? Take a step today to differentiate yourself from the crowd - and begin your journey toward success and leadership!

Chris' Commentary:
I don't always like quoting myself (perhaps I need a quote on humility?) but I accidentally said this in a speech I gave some time ago and I thought of how much truth there is in this statement. So much so, that I want to share it with you. Being a person of high character and low skills is okay, and people will respect you, which is good. You just won't achieve much. Low character and high skills will make people follow you or buy from you once - until they realize you have no character. The key to success is to have a high character and excellence in your skills. This two-pronged approach will make you a leader and enable you to soar high in life!

Action Point: Do you work a lot on your skills? Most people do. Take some time this week to work as much on your character as you do on your skills. This time you spend will return tenfold to you!

Chris’s Commentary:
No matter what great thing it is that you want to accomplish in life, you are going to need some wings to get there. And the bigger the thing it is that you want to accomplish, the bigger your wings need to be! So what are the wings that will lift you to this great success in your life? Imagination! Every accomplishment begins as an action or a series of repeated actions. Every action is driven by a thought. Our thoughts are reflections of what it is that we imagine. So imagine big, and you will think big. Think big, and you will take big actions. Take big actions, and your accomplishments will be big!

Action Point:
Take some time today to imagine the great successes you want to see in your life in the next few months. Spend some time dreaming! This will start a chain reaction that will lead to the actual accomplishment!
